Similar photos, bursts and blurry shots: keep the best one
Similar photos — several takes of the same moment — are not duplicates, so the iPhone Duplicates album ignores them. Handle bursts in Photos with Select → Keep Only Favorites. For similar shots, blurry and closed-eye photos there is no built-in filter; a photo cleaner such as Puri groups them, suggests a keeper and lets you choose.
Burst photos: built-in and quick
- Photos → Media Types → Bursts, open a burst and tap Select….
- Tap the frames you want to keep, then Done.
- Choose Keep Only Favorites. The other frames go to Recently Deleted.
Similar shots: choose one keeper per moment
When you take five photos of the same scene, keep the one with the best focus, expressions and framing, plus any that are genuinely different. Puri groups similar photos across your whole library (not just the same day) using an on-device image comparison, suggests a keeper, and lets you pick another with Set Keep.
Blurry and closed-eye photos
Puri checks sharpness and, in portraits, whether eyes are open — on the device. These are suggestions: a “blurry” photo can still be the only picture of a moment. Review the list rather than deleting it wholesale. These categories are part of Puri Premium.
Live Photos
A Live Photo stores a short video alongside the still image. For shots where the motion doesn’t matter, iOS can Duplicate → Duplicate as Still Photo one at a time; Puri can convert a selection in one go (Premium), keeping albums, date, location and favourite status. The original goes to Recently Deleted.
